Lakeland School Corporation is working hard to offer expanded opportunities in Career and Technical Education through graduation pathways. We are adding a CDA program this Fall . We have partnered with Ivy Tech to make it a dual enrollment program, and Ambassador Enterprises has agreed to cover the tuition costs for any students involved. Students who complete this program will come out certified to work in child care and with college credits! We appreciate the work that Jenna Anderson with Thrive by 5 of LaGrange & Noble Counties has put in to help us make this happen!

The Salvation Army will have a mobile food pantry visiting July-October at different locations in LaGrange County. Please see the flyer for more information! Call 574-970-0088 with questions.

Lakeland was proud to host the LaGrange & Noble County Thrive by 5 early learning coalition at Wolcott Mills today. Attendees discussed community needs regarding childcare and early education. We also hosted a regional prek directors' round-table.

Lakeland Senior Brooke Retterbush was recognized at a luncheon in Indianapolis as a Regional Academic All-Star for Indiana.
Academic All-Star distinction recognizes seniors who excel in the classroom first and foremost, but who also are actively involved in their schools and communities, and take on leadership roles in those activities.
This is the 37th year of recognizing outstanding students through this program. Each high school in Indiana can nominate one student, with 274 students nominated this year. From that group the committee divides the state into 5 regions – large and small schools and the selection committee reviews all applications. The 274 are narrowed down to 90, and from that group of 90, 40 are chosen as Indiana Academic All-Stars and the remaining 50 are Regional winners throughout the entire state. Brooke was the only student from the surrounding area including Noble, LaGrange, and Steuben county. She is the first Lakeland student in twenty years to be recognized by the state for this award.
Selection of the school’s nominee is based upon the following considerations:
▪ Student transcript, with a focus on Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, International
Baccalaureate, and Advanced College Placement classes taken/grades received.
▪ Academic achievements and honors, academic courses and academic extracurricular
activities.
▪ Other extracurricular activities, community service and leadership qualities.
Brooke was joined by her mother, Beth Retterbush, her guidance counselor, Rachel Stroop, and selected Lori Jaeger as an influential educator in her life to join her as well.

The Academic Teams had great showings throughout the competition season this year - with overall meet winners at the 18 school Dwenger Meet & 9 Team Fremont meets, as well as multiple meet firsts & 2nd places across ALL the subject areas by enrollment class. To qualify for State, teams must place in the Top 5 of their enrollment class (typically 65 schools). At the All-Area meet this past Tuesday - the English & Fine Arts teams just missed qualifying for State by 1 question & Science by 2 questions. Thank you to ALL members of the Social Studies, Math, English, Fine Arts & Science teams for your efforts this season! You represented Lakeland very well! #AnchorDown

Today's logo share: the L. The L is the primary athletic logo. The L is leaning slightly forward to signify Lakeland moving forward. The shape of the L has been updated, but is similar to some of the L's used in the past-an acknowledgement of where we have been and where we are going all in one letter!
